Terms of use

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This is an English translation of the German Nutzungsbedingungen. If the two differ, the German version applies.

Draft. This version is a draft; its legal review is still pending. If the text changes afterwards, a new date appears at the top.

1. Who offers NavX4 and what these terms cover

NavX4 – the Android app, the web app navx4.app and the website navx4.com – is offered by IEX Labs UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Talstraße 27, 94209 Regen, Germany; all details are in the legal notice. These terms apply to the use of NavX4, with and without an account.

How we process personal data is described in the privacy policy; these terms change nothing about it.

2. What NavX4 is

NavX4 plans routes and navigates on the basis of OpenStreetMap data and reports from the community. Using it costs nothing. Planning a route, viewing the map, navigating and loading offline maps work without an account; an account is needed for what cannot work without signing in, such as syncing, sharing and contributing to the community.

We try to provide NavX4 without interruption and to fix bugs quickly, but cannot promise continuous operation. Features may change.

3. Important notes on use

Map data may be incomplete or out of date. What counts is always the actual signage, orders of the authorities and the traffic and nature protection rules that apply on site. You use NavX4 at your own responsibility.

What NavX4 shows about rights of way, closures or speeds is a note derived from map and community data, not legal advice. Operate NavX4 while driving only as far as the traffic rules allow.

We are liable in accordance with the statutory provisions; these notes do not limit your statutory rights.

4. Account

You sign in with the IEX Labs sign-in service (auth.iexlabs.com), which other IEX Labs apps use as well. Keep your credentials secret and write to us if you notice that someone else is using your account. You can delete your account at any time (section 6).

5. Your content and the licence

Your content is everything you put into NavX4: tracks with their title and description, photos, places, roadbooks, posts, comments, reviews and reports. It stays yours; NavX4 acquires neither ownership nor copyright in it.

By uploading or publishing, you grant IEX Labs UG (haftungsbeschränkt) a simple, that is non-exclusive, free licence to your content. It only reaches as far as operating and displaying NavX4 requires, and covers:

  • storing your content and making it available to you on your devices;
  • showing it in the app, in the web app and on link pages of NavX4 the way you set it – only for you, for friends or a group, by link only or publicly;
  • processing it technically as operation requires, for example removing metadata from photos, calculating the length and elevation gain of a track or matching a route to the ways on the map.

We do not sell your content, grant no licences to it to third parties and do not use it outside NavX4. Service providers who run NavX4 on our behalf, such as hosting (privacy policy, section 3), have access only as far as necessary for that. NavX4 does not put your content under a free licence such as Creative Commons.

The licence is revocable: it ends for a piece of content as soon as you delete it (section 6). If you merely want to stop showing something, withdraw the sharing where it exists – for example set a track or a photo to private, or stop showing a place publicly. Then we only use it to store it for you.

Only upload what you hold the necessary rights to, and respect the rights of others, for example when people or number plates can be recognised in a photo; the app and the web app offer blurring to make them unrecognisable.

Reviewed partner and third-party tours that NavX4 takes over are under the licence named on the tour. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap and is under its licence (data and map sources).

6. Deletion and what applies afterwards

You delete individual items where they are. All content at once or your whole NavX4 account you delete at navx4.app/konto/loeschen or in the app under Account → Delete data or account; beforehand you see what disappears and what stays.

Deleting ends the licence to that content. It is removed from NavX4 and no longer shown; a link to it that you sent leads nowhere afterwards. If you delete your account, this applies to all of your content at once. What remains:

  • in our backup copies, until the last backup containing this content has been deleted; the periods are given in section 10 of the privacy policy;
  • a report about your content, or a report you made yourself about content or a person, together with the moderation decision, as long as it is needed to fend off abuse (privacy policy, section 9);
  • what others saved as their own route, downloaded as a file or stored on their device before the deletion – that sits in their account or on their device and is not covered by your deletion.

7. Code of conduct and moderation

Contributions to the community are subject to the code of conduct. You can report content and people. If content breaks these rules or the law, moderation can hide it, issue a warning or suspend comments and ratings, group features such as clubs, group tours and friend requests, or all community features of the account, for a limited time or indefinitely.

Every measure tells you its reason and whether and when it ends, and you can appeal; the appeal is reviewed like a report.

8. Ending use

You can stop using NavX4 at any time and delete your account (section 6). You delete your sign-in at the IEX Labs sign-in service there: auth.iexlabs.com/account/delete.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, a new date appears at the top.
